    CKD Guidelines

Clinical Practice Guideline on Appropriate Patient Preparation for Renal Replacement Therapy
The patient population at the center of RPA's third clinical practice guideline is the subset of adult patients (18 years of age or older) who have advanced chronic kidney disease or a glomerular filtration rate of less than or equal to 30mL/min/1.73m2 when kidney function is at a high risk of progression. The recommendations contained in the guideline are intended to provide clinicians with practical guidance for the care of individuals with advanced CKD not yet requiring renal replacement therapy.

RPA Position on Development of Effective Collaborative Practice Models for Chronic Renal Care
RPA believes that appropriate use of collaborative practice models in renal care represents an effective method of providing high quality care to a patient population experiencing vast growth in an era of diminishing nephrologist resources, and also has the potential to simultaneously
improve the quality of patient care delivered and provide greater costefficiencies in the delivery of that care.

    Vascular Access

    Vascular Access Initiative
The Renal Physicians Association (RPA) and major dialysis organizations nationwide have joined forces to develop and launch the Vascular Access Initiative (VAI), a collaborative project to improve the unacceptable rate of central venous catheter (CVC) use in the nation’s kidney patients receiving life-saving hemodialysis. This series of documents and tools is intended to facilitate that effort.
